So I got this comment the other day as I was sifting through and this is from Adam a closer he says Hey bro I’ve been looking for my first TF knife, but they are all too expensive where do you recommend getting a cheap but good quality TF knife, that is a solid question Adam and in today’s video we’re gonna be giving you the answer, this knife that we’re gonna be talking about is one of the best TF knives in the sub $30 category, so sit back relax and let’s get it.
What’s going on guys welcome back to everyday minimalist, my name is Brandon and I hope you’re having a fantastic day, in today’s video we’re gonna be answering the age old question of what is the best cheap O. T. F. and where are you going to purchase it. I’ve gotten that question thousands of times and I’m not even exaggerating that, so I thought I would make this video, now for those of you guys are brand new into the night scene let’s explain to you what an O. T. F. is that means out the front so when you go to engage the switch it deploys out, once it’s deployed the blade is going to be locked in place, so this is a double action TF and then you’ve got single action OCS, the single action TF is going to be something like this, this is a Dalton militia Cupid basically a house a single switch you’ve got a safety mechanism and then when you hit the switch the blade deploys, now the difference between a single action TF and then a double action TF is the double action TF will allow the body to retract when you pull down the switch, with the single action version you actually have to push down this button again and then the cockpit back essentially, then you can go to deploy it again it’s not, of course this is going to be based off of personal preference I prefer a double action O. T. F. just because it’s gonna be a lot more convenient to just go ahead and fire it out like this, you’re gonna see a lot of these into your local sporting goods store whether it be bass pro shops if you got Scheels where you’re at if you got academy whatever it might be you’ll probably see these on the shelf if they’re legal in your state, basically these things will go for anywhere between 200 all the way up to a $500 price tag and then it can get even more expensive you get into the more custom options, for a lot of people it’s gonna be hard to fork out you know $300 into an O. T. F. switchblade if they’re just trying to mess around, so that’s why I wanted to show you guys this thing right here, if you’re new to learn I’ve seen it then you probably never heard of it this is called the lightning TF, but if you’re already a part of the night community. The reason why the lightning TF is so renowned is because it’s super ultra budget friendly, it’s call all of the mechanics of inexpensive TF knife and let me tell you right now, these things are extremely durable the reason why I came back this knife is because I literally made a short video of me throwing this specific lightning TF off of a 7 storey garage building, this thing traveled and hit the ground with the really hard smack it even got rid of one of the screws and it’s still old contracts and deploys, now in my opinion that’s just simply incredible because it is only a $30 knife, of course if I were to take you know this $300 bench made to sing better withstand that all but the lightning TF was able to withstand 3 different drops which is just mind boggling, so I had the opportunity to own a lightning TF for a really long time now this one ‘s about 2 years old and I beat the absolute hell out of it, and of course you do get what you pay for it’s a $30 knife so that means that you’re gonna have to sharpen it more often and then be careful where you put it because of its in the damp environment and that will likely rust out, but in terms of my 2 year old lighting TF it’s been able to withstand all the abuse it’s cut through a ton of boxes as well zip ties and then you name it. It’s probably cut through that the recently there’s been a new model that has released and that is going to be the lightning all leaked, so the lightning we is actually quite a bit nicer than the original lightning TI this thing still goes for $30 which is awesome, it’s got very similar materials in terms of the builder so you still have the 440 steel and they’ve got some sort of pop metal I’m guessing in terms of the handle, the original lighting TF has some pretty subpar finishes here on the handle were as a lightning we has some phenomenal finishing, when you go to grip it just feels a little bit nicer. I would actually compare this to some of the higher end Tober tech nerds out there, in my opinion this is actually nicer than those and then in terms of the sharpness this is 1 of the biggest sellers of this knife, it has a hollow grind in the $30 knife you don’t see that very often now all right does it just basically has a bubble that is concave and it just makes it extra sharp it makes a lot easier to sharpen, it may not hold an edge as well as like a standard Flack Brian. I assume most of you guys are gonna be purchasing this knife are gonna be using it to cut open packages may just visit with all day long, or use it to impress your friends I don’t know what you gonna do with it, but so far this has my stamp of approval of the lightning all lead to is probably my go to teach us when it comes to budget knife recommendations, and I can comfortably say that there is no other knife even under the $100 price category that can beat out the lightning tia, hell if I owned a covert sac connects to the lightning I would probably get rid of the cover tech and then go for this bad boy, so there you guys haven’t my overall impressions of the lightning TF I can absolutely recommend this to anyone and everyone, lastly I want to know are you guys planning on picking 1 up what’s variation are you going for a blacked out a static 1 do you want to sign blade you want tanto what are you guys going for, and if you guys have any other questions about the lightning TF let me know in the comments section below if you like this video throw me a thumbs up, if you just like to throw me a thumb.
